David Wayne Young

David Wayne Young, son of the late Bill and Inis (Merrell) Young, was born April 15, 1970 in Columbia, Missouri. As a young boy, David grew up near Marshfield, Missouri and later the family relocated to Springfield, Missouri and he graduated from Central High School in Springfield. During his working years, David served as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Technician and also worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections. In his spare time, David enjoyed anything Star Wars, but especially Darth Vadar and also enjoyed going to yard sales. On February 4, 2002, David was united in marriage to Tina Michelle Dobbs in Buckhorn, Missouri. They shared a total of 25 years together and many wonderful memories. David passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018, in his home having attained the age of 48 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. David leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Tina of the home; his six children, Kristal Nash of St. Robert, William Davis and his wife, Athiena McMann of St. Robert, Jacob Young of Waynesville, Brittany Shaffer and husband, Ryan of Waynesville, Valo Bishop of Springfield, MO, and Dustin Spurgeon of Springfield, MO; thirteen grandchildren; ten siblings: Tammy (Steve) Bussone, Lisa (Ron Winslow, Mary Tilden, Charles (Diane) Young, Bill Young, Brenda Blalock, Deborah (Milt) Allen, Martha (Jim) Dinwiddie, Robert (Connie) Young and Wanda (Jimmy) Milis; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers: Andy Lee Young and Larry Leray Young; and one granddaughter: Hasley Ann Shaffer. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor John Shaw officiating. The songs “What a Day That Will Be” and “How Great Thou Art” were sung by Becky Lercher. Serving as escorts were Ryan Shaffer, Jacob Young, David Dobbs, Matthew Young, Robert Young, Gabe Gasgill, Ron Sanford and Shannon Williams. Serving as honorary escort was Charles Young. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery of Waynesville. Memorial Contributions in memory of David Young may be left at the funeral home.
