Rosalind Mable Nelson

Rosalind M. Nelson was born March 23, 1932 in upstate New York to Frederick and Minnie L. Beach. She was the youngest of four children: Betty, Frederick Jr., Donald and Rosalind. They grew up during the Depression and World War II, so they knew the value of family and appreciate everything they had. At a very early age, Rosalind accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and her faith grew throughout the years, giving her the strength and life purpose that sustained her. Rosalind was united in marriage to Frank Manassa and they were blessed with three sons: John, Michael and Charles Manassa. Rosalind later met and was united in marriage to Edward Franklin Nelson, Sr. and they were blessed with three children: Edward F. Nelson, Jr., Phillip L. Nelson and Debra A. Nelson (Martin) Bess and husband Gene. Rosalind was a unique, wonderfully strong and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the truest friend you could know and was known by many as the Elvis lady and Momma or Grandma Rose. Rosalind traveled Europe and the United States with her husband Edward and family and enjoyed seeing many cultures and the beauty of the different countries. Rosalind and Edward settled in the St. Robert / Dixon, Missouri area in 1981 where they were active in the community and belong to the VFW Auxiliary, the DAV Auxiliary for 30+ years and so many other organizations. hroughout her life, she wore many hats, working as a nurse, meat cutter, PX cashier and homemaker. When Edward Sr. became ill, Rosalind lovingly cared for him until his passing in April 1985. She loved her homemaker role, keeping a beautiful home for the family she loved with her whole self….she loved unconditionally. She always had a smile, kind word and a big hug as she never knew a stranger. Rosalind passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 in her home having attained the age of 86 years, 1month and 7 days. Rosalind leaves to cherish her memory many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends that she saw as family: Jon Manassa, Naneha Lee & Jim; Tammy Fein & Scott, Josh Manassa & Amanda, Nick Mogg & Cassie, Pauline Nelson, Sarah Nelson, Phillip Nelson, Jr. & Stephanie, Cherie Hughes & John, Dell Justialian, Sunshine Nelson Elam, Virginia Nelson, Christopher Martin & Carol, Nori Curenton & Curtis, Ivan Bess & Jennifer, Curtis Bess & Caroline; great grandchildren: Emma & baby Manassa, Marek and Beckam Mogg, Ellen & Evelyn Nelson, Xiana, Layla, Liberty, Lucy, Liam, and Jada Nelson, Kayla, Brady & Nolan Hughes, Autumn & Annie Justialian, Adam & Ashley Blackburn, Crystal South & Nick, Winnie Scott & Brantley, Alex Nelson, Ciren, CaVonn & Cuinton Curenton, Jasmine & Amaya Bess, Amelia and Molly Bess; nieces and nephews Barbara Clinger & family, Donald Narum & family, Linda Narum Bevens & family, Donald Beach Jr. & family, Troy Beach & family, Ronda Beach Gagnon & family; great-great grandchildren, and a host of friends she loved as family. Those that preceded her in death were her mother and father Frederick & Minnie (Beach) Kurtz, husband Edward Nelson Sr., sister Betty Lee, brothers Fred & Don Beach, and sons John & Charles Manassa. Services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Danny Graves officiating. The songs “Amazing Grace”, “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, “My Way”, “You Gave Me A Mountain” and “I Will Always Love You” were played. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery of Waynesville. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rosalind Nelson and may be left at the funeral home.
