SGT (Ret) Daniel Anthony Lucero

SGT (Ret) Daniel Anthony Lucero, son of the late Willie and Ruth (Ruiz) Lucero, was born October 19, 1947 in Los Angeles, California. He passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in the Cox Medical Center South of Springfield, Missouri having attained the age of seventy years. Daniel grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from John Marshall High School. Shortly after graduation, Daniel entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully through the Vietnam War and until his retirement. He had attained the rank of Sergeant and earned several awards and commendations. Daniel was a hardworking man. Some of his jobs included, working as an administrative specialist with a telecommunications center; worked in Mannheim, Germany with a concrete company; Monterey Community Hospital; Non-Appropriated Funds at Fort Eustis, Virginia; NAF/AAFES in Buedingen, Germany; and Non-Appropriated Funds-IHG at Fort Leonard Wood as a supply technician and retired in 2017. On July 2, 1994, Daniel was united in marriage to Donna “Raina” New. They shared over twenty-four years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. In his spare time, Daniel loved studying military history and watching boxing and soccer (FIFA). He also enjoyed being outdoors while fishing and just enjoying life. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and was blessed with four children: Daniel Anthony Lucero, Jr., Michelle Lucero, John Lucero and Jessie Anthony Lucero. Daniel loved life and enjoyed living it to the fullest. Daniel leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Raina Lucero of the home; four children: Daniel Anthony Lucero, Jr., Michelle Lucero and John Lucero, all of the State of California and Jessie Anthony Lucero of Waynesville, MO; seven siblings: Robert James Ruiz, Cynthia Ann Palacious, Isabel Palacious, Michael James Lassley, Kenneth Lassley, Patrick Charles King and Alvin Murphy, all of the State of California; mother-in-law: Flora New of Russellville, AR; sister-in-law: Shirley West of Russellville, AR; sister and brother-in-law: Debbie and Alan LeBlanc of Rockledge, FL; brother and sister-in-law: Anthony and Annette Treadway of Pearl, MS; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Daniel will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him. Graveside services with military honors were held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville with Chaplain (CPT) Jose Rondon officiating. Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Daniel Lucero and may be left at the funeral home.
